acai berry detox - 2 week test results

August 4th, 2009

Well today marks the 14th day of taking the so-called fat burning pill(Acai Berry Detox). Initial thoughts…wait for it…bogus! I have taken the recommended dose of 2 pills per day for the last 14 days. I haven’t noticed a thing. No more energy than usual. No weight loss. No better sleeping. The only thing that might be noticed was the frequent trips to the bathroom. I had to pee 10 times more than normal. This could also be attributed to the recommended amounts of water they suggest.   You might as well put ground up cornmeal inside these and market those.  Ingredients? No clue.  Since these don’t have to be regulated by the food and drug administration (herbal supplement) your guess is as good as mine.  Let’s go over the process and what was encountered, shall we?

day one P90X

July 28th, 2009

This will serve as my unofficial P90X tracking tool.  I’ll update my progression using the program and use this space as another motivation booster.  I’ll post pics, thoughts, ramblings, and what ever else is related to P90X. To start, I weighed in this morning at 140 lbs.  I’m 5′6″ tall.  I don’t consider myself overweight, but I’d like to accomplish a well-defined physique with overall nice muscle tone.  I don’t want to bulk up, but rather just lose some fat while toning what I have.  Here are my day 1 photos.  Yikes! The dreaded before pics… Read more…

why use the drivethru when…

...drivethru dumb ass...

...drivethru dumb ass...

Have you ever found yourself in a drivethru line and seen this? The person in the car ahead of you apparently doesn’t  have a functioning door window and has to order and receive items by opening the door. Now not only is this dangerous, but this is completely amazing. The lengths people will go to so they don’t have to WALK inside to order.  Seriously people, wouldn’t it just be easier to park and go inside.  You have to open and close the door the same amount of time, given you close it to drive from the speaker to the window.  Another great piece is the exchange between drivethru dumbass and the employee.  The person has to pull ahead ever so slightly so the door doesn’t block the window.  This creates a magical and beautiful ballet that the driver now has to perform so he/she can reach the said window.  Some drivers end up putting the car in park and then try the routine, while others like this lug do it with the foot still firmly on the brake.  And don’t forget about Read more…

people who smoke while driving a vehicle with kids in it

Smoking with kids in vehicles....

Smoking with kids in vehicles....

I think all people who are dumb enough to smoke in cars while their kids are with them should be chained to poles inside transparent boxes that are hooked up to diesel generators that are expelling the exhaust into them. Perhaps with a gap between the top and sides of the box just like a window cracked in the car to let out the fumes…because that makes all the difference right? Yeah. If I smoke and crack the window, these second hand smoke fumes won’t harm my kids AT ALL. In an age where information is EVERYWHERE how can people be so cruel to kids. Isn’t there a law where it would prohibit smokers to seize this activity when kids are present in a car? You can’t smoke on federal property, or even at most places of employment, but you can force a child to breathe this toxic cloud in a car?!

Growing up with a mother who smoked Read more…

bottled water experiment

July 2nd, 2009

This Fourth of July holiday weekend I am going to try out something I read about a few months ago. I’ll post the full details early next week. Hope it’s a hot weekend! matthew Z

**UPDATE** Okay, there are three (3) things one must do to be successful in any business venture one enters into.  First you need time.  Without time, you might as well just give money away.  With that said, this is the first reason why my experiment failed.  I didn’t want to take away time from spending it with my family this weekend so I never even went to the store to buy the bottles of water to which I would have sold for $1.00/each. But on a lighter side of it, I had a blast!  We did so many things.  Biked at the rail trail, had backyard barbeques, saw fireworks 3 nights in a row, went to a carnival, and just plain ole had a good time.

Next you need money.   This I had, but instead of spending it on this lucrutive business idea, I decided to take the family to the carnival and ride rides and eat overpriced, but extremely rewarding, elephant ears with cinnamon and sugar toppings.  What a fun day we had!july-2009-115

The last thing I think any venture needs is luck.  Whether it’s in the form of timing, networking, or in my case the weather, I did not have this going.  The first day I wanted to sell water it was a balmy 59 degrees out.  To sell water, one must think higher temperatures help.  It does.  This coupled with the “Time” issue stated above helped me to not sell anything the first day.  Day two (2) was similar but a bit warmer at 65 degrees.  Still not the “luck” I needed to help motivate me.  Hence, no sales for day 2.  Day three (3) was exactly what I needed.  Sunny.  80.  And a perfect day to sit in the backyard with the family and enjoy the day.  The weather inspired us to go to the carnival and what a fun time we had!!! I’m pretty sure that I could have made a fortune on the 4th, but perhaps next year all things will align better and I can make some cash.

Outcome: great weekend spent with the family.  You can’t put a value on it!  Maybe my next experiment will be how to make money while doing nothing but spending time with the ones you love.  Anyone know how to do this???  Well, until anon…matthew Z
