the original Bubbler Tuesday…an incomplete history

the boys of Bubbler

Recently Bubbler Tuesday has been getting a lot of questions…what is it, where did it come from, why do you have them?  Well, all but the where did it come from can be answered here.  For the where, you have to think back to the year 2003.  The Space Shuttle Discover disintegrated over Texas during re-entry. Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Ðindic is assassinated in Belgrade. The US led coalition force invades Iraq. U. S. president George W. Bush lands on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, where he gives a speech announcing the end of major combat in the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. A banner behind him declares “Mission Accomplished.”  SARS. Voters recall Governor Gray Davis from office and elect actor Arnold Schwarzenegger to succeed him. You get the idea, a lot of bad and crazy things were taking place.

With all this though, there is some good. Read more…

hey big oil…FAH-Q!

January 6th, 2010

I can’t wait until the world leaves petroleum behind to embrace clean, renewable energy and the oil companies that have had all the record breaking profits can’t give oil away.  I hope oil company execs rot in hell.  I’m going green!  If only I could find a way to market water to the world the way big oil companies have.  matthew Z

mZp’s review of TERK HDTVi directional indoor UHF/VHF HDTV antenna

TERK HDTVi Antenna

TERK HDTVi Antenna

A few things to point out for this review.  I hooked this antenna up to my Samsung HL-T6176S – 61-inch Slim 1080p DLP Rear Projection HDTV out of frustration with my cable company (Charter Communications) and a need to still be able to watch TV.  Why?  I was tired of paying over $100 month for 6-7 channels that we watched.  I figured I could get a few channels with the ‘rabbit ears’ and not have to pay a monthly bill for a service I wasn’t happy with.  Charter’s basic cable has about 14 channels, not broadcast in HD, and it’s close to $30/month. With over 1, 000 stations in more than 200 markets broadcasting digital television, nine out of ten households can now receive free HDTV signals with the right antenna, a set-top box and a high-definition television. So I read a TON of reviews of antenna’s on the market and felt the TERK HDTVi was a solid investment. It is the only indoor HDTV antenna optimized for both UHF and VHF reception (channels 2-69).   I justified spending the $26.99 to purchase it as a one month cable bill.  I purchased it through Newegg  here. With taxes and shipping it totaled $36. 64.  About the same after taxes from Charter.

day eight P90X

August 31st, 2009
bring it

bring it

WOW!  Today was my eighth day of P90X and do I feel great!  Not just because I’m actually feeling better inside and out, but because I’ve actually stuck it out!  The first week was tough.  Wait, that’s not enough.  The first week was HELL!  During most exercises my muscles quivered with fatigue. Burned literally.  But I paced my self, I did the stretching, got the equipment (pull up bar, weights, etc.) and it’s paying off.  Today started the second week of the program.  I was surprised that I was actually able to do far more than I did last week.  The exercises were more familiar so I wasn’t focusing on the “how-to” as much.  My energy level has increased, I’d say, at least 10-fold.

Now, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t think about giving up a couple times last week.  But I stayed with it, did the work outs in their entirety and I’m glad I did.  I can’t wait for day 90 to get here to see how much I’ve transformed.  No doubt about it, if you stick with this, there is no earthly way you could not show improvement.  With such variety in the program, you’ll be happy you did it.  BRING IT!

Until next week, matthew Z
